Poinsettia's Annual Jog a Thon is always one of my favorite school events the kids participate in. It's so fun to see them run around for 30-40 minutes and never give up (well some kids do), but not Skylar and Madden. At Back to School Night in Maddens class room they had listed their goals for the upcoming year....Madden's goal "Get the most laps at the jog a thon." He won it last year and was determined to keep his winning streak alive.
This year with our new principal the pressure was really on for the kids to hit a record number of fundraising money. The goal....$50,000. Now to date our record was only $35,000 and I felt that $50,000 was way to ambitions and we would never get to it. If we did hit the $50K the principal would have to be on the roof of the school for a whole day. The kids loved the idea about seeing him up there, but I still didn't see it happening.
The big day arrived and the upper grades were up first.

The best dads ever were at the mic Emceeing the whole event. I can't tell you the number of people came up to me and couldn't give Jake and Tyson enough praise. They had ever single parents cracking up. I don't think our principal expected them to be as hiliarous as they were. He gave them a lot of praise as well.
In the end Skylar's grade ran for 40 minutes and she completed 28 laps.
Team white was up next and Madden was pumped.

Push ups
and Meditation to warm up.
Back at the mic for round two.
In the end Madden's grade ran for 30 minutes and he knocked out 32 laps. Never stoping once. The end Madden did 2 laps less than other boy in his class, but we know that he cheated and double dip on a lap count (Grandma saw it), so on paper Madden wasn't the top running, but in our house he was the Champ.
Hollywood Red Carpet was the theme of the schools Father/Daughter Dance this year. This was also the first time in two years that I wasn't one of the co-chairs of the dance and got to enjoy getting Skylar ready for the night.
Kari had all the girls and moms over right after school and we did all the girls hair and make up before the pre party. They loved getting ready together and were so cute complementing each others hair, makeup and outfits.
There are some good looking VIPs I must say.
I knew Jake would be miserable in a suit that I had a feeling most dads would be wearing, so I wanted to come up with a different look for them. I had this vibe that I wanted a Jay-Z/Beyonce look and I ran with that. I thought they were the best dressed of the night (but I'm probably biases).

The girls and Dads had a great night and once again Jake and Casey were on top as they took the award for the Top Dad Dancers. I'm sad that no one got video of that.
Lucy and Skylar continued their tradition of going to Cravory with their dads after the dance. It's their little secret. I can't believe we only have one more Father/Daughter Dance left for these girls.
