Last Day of School 2019/2020

So after thirteen weeks of what they like to call "distance learning," the kids finally had their last day of school.  It sadly wasn't their typical last day of school of saying good-bye to classmates and teachers, but we made the best of it.

We rented a dunk tank at our house and invited some of Maddens good buddies over for a couple hours to play and dunk each other over and over again.

Since Covid these girls have gotten pretty independent.  So the moms decide to have the girls bike from house to house and do different water activities.

The girls call themselves the Eggo Waffles (I know, such a silly name).  They started off by eating eggo waffles covered in a enormous about of sugar, made homemade ice cream and had a water ballon fight.

Here the map the girls had to following.

Biker Gang!

After the water balloons they rode over to our house and did the dunk tank.  Sadly I sucked and got zero pictures or video.

The last stop for them (and Madden, he was included as well) was to Ava & Matthew's house to swim in the pool and eat chick fil-a and pizza.

These girls are ready to jump into 5th grade!

Even though it was the most random school year ever and not being able to be with everyone the kids still had a great time and are looking forward to hopefully returning to school in the Fall.

Jog a Thon 2020

Poinsettia's Annual Jog a Thon is always one of my favorite school events the kids participate in.   It's so fun to see them run around for 30-40 minutes and never give up (well some kids do), but not Skylar and Madden.  At Back to School Night in Maddens class room they had listed their goals for the upcoming year....Madden's goal "Get the most laps at the jog a thon."  He won it last year and was determined to keep his winning streak alive.

This year with our new principal the pressure was really on for the kids to hit a record number of fundraising money.  The goal....$50,000.  Now to date our record was only $35,000 and I felt that $50,000 was way to ambitions and we would never get to it.  If we did hit the $50K the principal would have to be on the roof of the school for a whole day.  The kids loved the idea about seeing him up there, but I still didn't see it happening.

The big day arrived and the upper grades were up first.

The best dads ever were at the mic Emceeing the whole event.  I can't tell you the number of people came up to me and couldn't give Jake and Tyson enough praise. They had ever single parents cracking up.  I don't think our principal expected them to be as hiliarous as they were.  He gave them a lot of praise as well.

In the end Skylar's grade ran for 40 minutes and she completed 28 laps.

Team white was up next and Madden was pumped.

Push ups

and Meditation to warm up.

Back at the mic for round two.

In the end Madden's grade ran for 30 minutes and he knocked out 32 laps.  Never stoping once.  The end Madden did 2 laps less than other boy in his class, but we know that he cheated and double dip on a lap count (Grandma saw it), so on paper Madden wasn't the top running, but in our house he was the Champ.

Monthly Awards

Well you know that your kid is extra special when they receive the first's month school awards; at least that is what I think 😂.  Skylar and Madden are starting their 4th and 2nd grade year right by both receiving the Academic's Awards for their classes.

First Day of School

Another first day of school is in the books.  This year the kids said they weren't excited to go back to school but the morning of they had a ton of joy on their faces and seemed full of excitement.

This year Madden has Mrs. Aubertin as his teacher.  He wanted her because Skylar had her for second grade as well.  He has a couple good buddies with him, but also some friends he has never been in class with.

Skylar has Miss. van Adelsberg as her teachers and she couldn't be more thrilled.

Skylar was disappointed once again to not have Lucy in her class.  Even though they aren't together in class, they are still thick as thieves and are together every moment they aren't in class.

Throwback picture of the girls from their first day of 1st grade.

Lucy, Madeline and Skylar.

Jude, William and Madden.  They were all together in Kinder and back together this year.

Madden and Mac.  Madden was thrilled to be in class again with Mac.  They are good buddies.

Madden and Matthew.
They have been friends for a couple years now, since Skylar is really close to Ava, Matthews sister, but it's their first time in class together.

Can't wait to see what this school year brings for these two.
