November 2022

So proud of Skylar for volunteering down at Feeding San Diego.  She packed squash for two hours with Chloe.

The 4 of us watch Hamilton.  Madden is a massive fan of it, so it was so fun seeing him enjoy it live and in person.

We spent Thanksgiving Break in the desert.

FNL - Minnesota Golden Gophers (Fall 2022)

Man do I love Friday Night Lights!!! Our boys just finished up their third season together and we are really coming into our own.  This was our first year playing 5th/6th grade and we knew it was going to be tougher, but our boys step up to the challenge.  We had a fantastic regular season by going 8-0 and becoming conference champs.  Sadly, our playoff run didn't go as smoothly as we hoped.  We got put up against a really tough 6th grade team and they took us out in round one.  Madden's love for football grows the more and more he plays and this season he really rocked it.  Couldn't be more proud of the work he puts in each and ever week when it comes to football.

Madden's Copa de Carlsbad Soccer Tournament

One of the perks of being a 5th grader is that you get to try out and play on the schools soccer team.  The Copa de Carlsbad Elementary School one day soccer tournament is a awesome tradition that the district has and no one was more excited for it than Madden. Maddens closes buddies made the team which was just icing on the cake for him.  Being one of the only true soccer players on the team, Madden knew he was going to have to play 3x as much as the other boys, but he was so hyped up for it.  Our boy played their hearts out and made it all the way to the semi-finals, losing by only 1 goal.  Madden played amazing and hard until the last second of the third game.  It was such a fun day for these boys!

Jessee & Pipers Wedding Weekend

It was so great going up north seeing family and celebrating Jessee and Piper's wedding.  They put together the perfect wedding.  Jake officiated the wedding and he was able to catch up with so many old friends.  Pretty sure I haven't seen Jessee and Piper any more happy then I did that day/the whole weekend.  Surrounded by so many friends and family who love them was something really special to be apart of.

Halloween 2022

Well this Halloween was an end of an era for the Ernest Family.  After a 11 year stretch of family Halloween costumes the kids decide they wanted to do their own thing.  I couldn't be mad at them since they have dressed up with us for so many years and never once refused to participate in it.  Skylar went with what all middle school girls were doing which was construction worker and with the massive success of Top Gun this year, Madden and his buddies dressed as Top Gun cadets.  Jake and I rocked the Mad Scientist costumes.

We hosted about 30 kids over for a little pre trick or treating party.

I felt this was our busiest Halloween in a couple years.  The crowds of people was insane.  I bought 1400 pieces of candy and passed out 1 piece per trick or treater and was completely out of candy in exactly 2 hours.  It's always a lot of work but always a ton of fun.

Madden Student of the Month Award

For the month of October Madden received the Citizenship Award and we couldn't of been more proud of him.  He is rocking 5th grade.  Getting great grade and his teacher and nothing but the sweetest things to say about him.  Everyday I drop him off at school I'm in awe that he is going to be in Middle School next year.  I'm just trying to cherish this last year of elementary school for him.
