April 2018

Open House at the kids school.  Skylar showing off her Biography report on Walt Disney.

Skylar standing in front of the Art Show sign that Jake made for the event.

We spot a couple funny pictures of Madden his teachers put up in their class.

Jake took the kids down to the beach when the tide was extremely low.  They saw a bunch of crabs.

Picture Day for dance recital.  Just a little sneak peek into what is to come.

Madden's 6th Birthday

Another year older for our little man.  This year I decided no birthday parties for the kids and we would take them to Disneyland (which is coming up in a week).  So for Madden actually birthday we kept it very mellow.

Sadly, Jake and I were at a wedding over the weekend so we didn't get to wake up with Madden on his birthday, but my parents and Skylar handled celebrating the birthday boy.  He was treated to a glaze twist donut (his pick) with a candle on top.  We got to sing Happy Birthday to him via Facetime at the airport.

He got spoiled with dozen of gifts from the family.  He got everything he wanted from Legos, to Nerf weapons, a skateboard and clothes that were only in the color black or dark grey (his request).

Dinner was In & Out hamburgers, fries, and a chocolate milkshake.  We all went around the table and told Madden our favorite memories of Madden being 5.

And to top off the day he got a tower of donut ice cream sandwiches.

YUMMY!!!

Happy 6th birthday my handsome man, I still can’t believe how fast you’ve grown. We were all so glad to make your birthday the day of all your special requests.

Spring Break

This year we were fortunate enough to spend the week out in Palm Springs with family.  My Dad has been working out in the desert for what seems like months now that during Spring Break he rented a house for us all to stay at.  It really turned out to be a great time since the kids got to spend 5 straight days with Lennon and Morrison.  We couldn't of asked for better weather with it being in the high 80s/low 90s all week.  The whole week was pretty much spent in the pool from morning until night.  Skylar and Lennon were the big fishes of the week because they would be in that pool until 4:00/5:00 in the afternoon.  Madden usually tuckered out a little after lunch and would need some down time.

The 8 floaties that Dad purchased were a huge hit.  The kids played on them for hours.

Each and every morning consistent of Fruit Loop cereal and watching Monster Jam (Lennons favorite thing at the amount).

The house we rented was right on the golf course so at night the kids loved going out there and hitting a few balls.

One evening we roasted s'mores.  Skylar took the cake and I believe ate 4-5 this night.

One morning we took the kids to the Living Desert.  We had all been a couple times before, but it was Lennon's first time and we knew he would love it.

The three of them loved reading the map and leading us all around the park.  We really lucked out because we saw a ton more animals than usually.

Dippin Dots before lunch when Papa is around.

We went downtown one evening for ice cream.

Whenever we go place with Erin and Matthew I always know I'm going to awesome pictures of the kids and that is what we got.  Using the house as a background Matthew and Erin set up a little mini-photo shoot and here were some of my favorite shots.

We had the best time!  It was definitely hard to leave the family and the warm desert weather, but hopefully we can squeeze in another family desert trip this upcoming summer.

Easter 2018

This years Easter holiday was a bit of a bittersweet one for our family.  After almost 10 years of celebrating Easter at my Aunt Elsa's house, we celebrated out last one there.  She and Uncle Jon recently sold their beautiful home so we wanted to make sure to cherish our last family holiday at their home.

We had a lovely meal (BBQ by Jake), and great conversation with the whole family.  The kids were are attached at the hip.  I rarely saw Skylar and Madden unless they were asking "When is the egg hunt?"  I put the older cousins to work and had them hid all the eggs for the kids.

Getting ready to make a dash out for the eggs.

Wouldn't be an Easter without confetti eggs.

Skylar definitely made out, but I think Madden was the one who found the eggs with the most money in them.

Confetti eggs on Uncle Ron.

On Easter Sunday we were glad to be back with the Finkel Family for Easter brunch.  Janet of course went above and beyond for the kids.  She put together a really fun scavenger.  Skylar read each clue to MacKenzie and Madden and then they would brainstorm together to solve it.

They ended up with a basket full of toys and treats!

Just another fabulous Easter holiday with friends and family.
