Last Day of 6th and 4th Grade

Well we survived our first year at middle school for Skylar.  She actually did better than survive, she thrived and had a great year.  She meant a ton of new friends.  Was a part of ASB, she even ran for secretary for next year, but sadly didn't win.  Performed in her dance PE spring show.  She even started wearing a little it bit of make up, which wasn't my first choice, but what can you do.  And on top of it all, got straight A's throughout the whole year.  Can't wait to see what 7th grade brings her.

Madden once again had a stellar elementary year.  He had an amazing teacher in Mrs. Hines.  Was in a class with a ton of his buddies.  Don't think we could of asked for a better year for him.  Looking forward to seeing him ruling the school next year as a 5th grader.

Madden met up with his buddies to walk to school together on the last day.

Madden's 4th Trip to San Fran/Sacramento

4th grade is all about California history so going on the 4th grade trip was something we weren't going to miss.  We had Skylar signed up to go on it when she was in 4th grade but Covid shut that down, so I was happy that Madden was able to attend.  We knew it was going to be a fun filled packed two days and that is definitely what it was.  We had to be at the airport at 6:00 AM on Saturday and from there it didn't stop until we got home on Sunday night.

These boys crashed the cockpit.

Waiting for our cable car.

Riding the cable car was maybe my favorite part of San Francisco.

We got dropped off at Pier 39 for the next 5 hours.  It was a mad house there but it didn't slow us down.  Boys were jumping and running all over that place.

We had lunch at Hard Rock Cafe.

After lunch we toured the aquarium.  At one point I lost Madden inside, but eventually found him.

Hopped on the ferry to visit Alcatraz.  Madden was the one kid who decided to go in the splash zone that you weren't suppose to go in and he was drenched.

At Alcatraz after Madden got soaking wet, he was in a bit of a mood so he just wanted to tour it with me which was so nice.  He was usually so busy with his buddies having just him and I tour it was fun to do together.

After the tour we headed back for dinner at Pier 39 and back on the bus to head to our hotel.  The kids took over the pool at the hotel and had a blast swimming before they all crashed by 10:00 PM.

The next morning we headed over to the State Capital where we walked around the grounds.  It was a Sunday so it was closed and we all found it a bit of a waste of time to be there to be honest.

Got to walk around Sutters Fort where we did a bit of a scavenger hunt and ate lunch.

The weather was getting warm and we drove down to the American River where the kids got to pan for gold.  The water was freezing they all day but it didn't stop them for looking for a nugget.

We ate dinner in Old Sacramento, headed to the airport and finally got home by 11:00pm that night.  In the end we packed in a TON of stuff in just 36 hours and it was a blast! I was so glad that Madden and I attended this trip as I know it is something he will remember forever.

Copa de Carlsbad ⚽

Every year Carlsbad Unified puts together a one day, round robin soccer tournament for all the elementary schools play in.  Again, because of covid it hasn't happened for two years, so when the school announced it was back all the school were stoked.  I immediately recommended Jake to coach our schools boys team.  He held try outs where boys of all skill levels came out. Jake said about 50 boys participate in the try outs, which was fun for he 4th and 5th grade boys at the school.  In the end Jake was able to get it down to our 10 top players.

Of course the day of the tournament it was 90+ degrees.  Our boys played great, but unfortunately due to the point systems (which we think was unfair), we didn't make it to the semi-finals because of our lost in our second game.  Either way, the boys had a blast and I was fun seeing Madden play in this special tournament.  Can't wait to see how we do next year!

Madden's School Jog-a-Thon

It was so great to see the jog-a-thon back at school after not having it for two years.  Madden knocked it out of the park and ran 55 laps.  He never stop running, besides when he was pouring water on his head.  He definitely ran the most laps in his class and I believe his class raised the most money.  It was a great fundraiser for the school and just so fun watching the kids participate.

Cramping up at the end.

Madden's Academic Award

Madden walked away with the Academic Award for the month of October.  He has been working really hard to get his reading scores up and, well we all know math is his bread and butter so he is always scoring high there.

First Day of 6th/4th Grade

HOW DO WE HAVE A MIDDLE SCHOOLER?!?!

I swear in the blink of an eye elementary school was over and now we are in middle school.  Skylar is now at Aviara Oaks Middle School.  She has 7 class periods.  Her elective is ASB, which we are really proud of her for doing.  She is also doing dance PE and advance math.

Another first day for these two best friends.

Middle schoolers..this was registration day.

Madden is entering 4th grade.  It's crazy to think that the pandamic began while Skylar was in half way into 4th grade and now Madden is there.  His teachers name is Mrs. Hines and he has a bunch of buddies in his class.

We are so blessed that the kids are back to school FULL TIME.  Very excited to see how much they grow this upcoming school year.

Last Day of School 2019/2020

So after thirteen weeks of what they like to call "distance learning," the kids finally had their last day of school.  It sadly wasn't their typical last day of school of saying good-bye to classmates and teachers, but we made the best of it.

We rented a dunk tank at our house and invited some of Maddens good buddies over for a couple hours to play and dunk each other over and over again.

Since Covid these girls have gotten pretty independent.  So the moms decide to have the girls bike from house to house and do different water activities.

The girls call themselves the Eggo Waffles (I know, such a silly name).  They started off by eating eggo waffles covered in a enormous about of sugar, made homemade ice cream and had a water ballon fight.

Here the map the girls had to following.

Biker Gang!

After the water balloons they rode over to our house and did the dunk tank.  Sadly I sucked and got zero pictures or video.

The last stop for them (and Madden, he was included as well) was to Ava & Matthew's house to swim in the pool and eat chick fil-a and pizza.

These girls are ready to jump into 5th grade!

Even though it was the most random school year ever and not being able to be with everyone the kids still had a great time and are looking forward to hopefully returning to school in the Fall.
