Madden's 7th Birthday

Well, this is seven!!

Madden was pretty mellow when it came to party planning this year.  When I first started asking him about what he wanted to do for his birthday he mentioned that he wanted something small.  When our football schedule showed a bye the week of his birthday I thought...PERFECT, lets have a small gathering with his football team to celebrate, and Madden agreed.

We went with the football team colors for the party.  We served Madden's favorite for dinner, bean and cheese burritos and tortilla chips.

I wanted to have something to keep the kids entertained at our house so a dunk tank it was.  The kids went NUTS!!  They loved every minute of it.  All the boys took turns dunking each other and even got a couple good dunks on the coaches.  It definitely got chilly as the evening went on, but lucky Jake and Lucy didn't mind the cold and continued to allow people to dunk them.

This year cake wasn't something that Madden was interested in.  Instead we went with the 5 pound bag of Dippin Dots.  The massive bag of ice cream arrived just a few hours before the partied on dry ice.  The birthday boy ate his out of a massive silver goblet.

The party was just what Madden wanted and he couldn't of been more grateful to spend it with the friends he did.

Lucky for Madden and I we got a last minute call to babysit Lennon and Morrison.  We drove down to Riverside early the next morning.  We arrived to a minecraft theme birthday breakfast full of donuts, balloons, and presents.  It was so sweet of Erin and my brother to set up for Madden.

One of Madden's present request this year was a pet...and that pet was a Hermit Crab.  Lucky for him when we went to buy the hermit crab we were told that they don't like to be alone, so he walked out with two of them.

Meet the newest members of the Ernest Family....Joe & Murr.  Yes Madden named them after two of the guys on his favorite TV show, Impractical Jokers.

Confetti Pancakes for Birthday Breakfast!

Besides the hermit crabs Mom and Dad got Madden a wireless controller for his video games, Minecraft game, and a clock for his room.

Cookies & Cream Ice Cream Sundae for the birthday boy.

As a joke, Dad and Skylar came up with personalized shirts to surprise Madden with.  We wanted to wear them to his birthday sushi dinner but he requested that we didn't and we respected his wishes, but not before we all got a good laugh.

Madden you are such a treasure from above, and bring us so much joy and love.  We can't wait to see what this upcoming year brings you.

Easter 2019

This year for Easter, Matthew and Erin invited us to their country club's Easter brunch.  The kids were really excited to spend the morning with Lennon and Morrison.  The cousin Easter Bunny picture didn't turn out quite how we hoped, but it was definitely one for the memory books.  I remember Madden being the same way for a long time.

Run Lennon Run!

Down on the driving range of the golf course was the games, petting zoo and egg hunt.

This was the biggest egg hunt the kids have every participated in.  There were so many eggs in comparison to the number of kids actually hunting.

Lennon didn't want to do the egg hunt, but he cheered Madden on because Madden told him he would share his eggs with him.

Matthew and Jake participated in the egg toss.  They came in 4th Place after Matthew drop the egg.  I was a little disappointed in their showing.

Grandparents love.

The kids woke up and searched the house for the baskets from the Easter bunny. The Easter bunny kind of stuck out on Madden's basket and got him candy he doesn't really like 😬.  They both got swimsuits, hats, and movies.  All in all it was a pretty mellow Easter holiday for our family.

Open House 2019

We had a great evening at the kids open house.  This year I have hardly been in Skylar's classroom so it was so nice being able to visit and see everything she has been working on.  They have been working on weather and Skylar had to do a whole report on Hurricanes.

Skylar's Dream House lay out.  My favorite is the zip line, because Skylar is scared of zip lines.

Super Skylar!

I loved Skylar's "I AM" poem.

Best friends since Kindergarten.

Madden's room was really fun to walk through.  I volunteer a couple times a month so it was nice to see all the things that I cut and paste come together.

Madden's Timeline.

Madden's first day of school self portrait.  My favorite thing about this was for the question, "Something special about me....I got a concussion one time."  That made me giggle.

They learned a lot about "light."

Not too sure what is going on with the teeth here.

Melted my heart.

George Washington write up.

This was Madden's self portrait that was up in the art show.  I told Jake that Madden was looking rather tan in this one...haha.
