Mackenzie's 1st Birthday

Crazy how fast time is flying by.  I remember exactly what we were doing the night Jenn was in labor with little Mackenzie and I can't believe that a year has already gone by.  This past weekend we headed out to Mackenzie's grandparents house for her 1st Birthday Party.  Janet (MacKenzie's grandma) did a amazing job putting the entire party together.  After planning and putting together Skylar's birthday party I know what hard work it is, so seeing everything that Janet did was something that I totally admired.  She had tons of desserts, with homemade cupcakes, cookies and little healthy snacks for all the kiddos.  She even made a basket of endless hair bows for all the little girls at the party to take home.

The Beautiful Birthday Girl and her Mom

You can never go wrong with a house of balls for kiddos to play in.

Skylar loved playing with the endless bubbles they had all over the party.  I'm pretty sure by the time we left her shirt was soaked.

Cake Time!!  Mackenzie was so cute just destroying her smash cake.  She didn't waste anytime getting her hands into it and  putting it all into her mouth.  It was for sure the highlight of the party for her.

Happy Birthday Mackenzie!!

It was a great day spending time with our friends and celebrating little Mackenzie turning 1.  It's funny how we all went from celebrating our 21st birthdays together, to now celebrating every one's kids 1st birthdays together.....how times have changed.

Quick Legoland Visit

Last week Skylar and I had the afternoon free after her nap so I decided to take her to Legoland for a couple of hours before dinner time.  I took her to the massive sandbox that they have there since I know she loves playing in the sandbox at day care.  She kept following this little boy around and wanted to play in the sand next to him.

Next we hit up her favorite part of the park the DUPLO play area.  She could honestly play here all day if she could.  She loves climbing into all the little houses and playing with all the legos they have in all the different sizes.

15 minutes before the park was about to close Skylar found herself not wanting to leave because she was having too much fun shooting the water guns at the frogs.  She loved saying "frog eyes, frog eyes" because she kept shooting the frogs in their eyes.  Even when she got home she had to tell Dad how she got the water in the frogs eyes.

It's great having Legoland so close to our house, it literally takes us 10 minutes to get there and makes for a fun quick outing for Skylar.

Rainy Days

Well it was bound to happen sooner or later, we finally had a weekend of rain after weeks of summer like weather.  After having so much going on lately to be able to just relax all day in the house with nothing to do, but watch College Basketball (Jake's dream), was actually nice.  We just felt bad for Skylar having to stay indoors most of the weekend, but luckily her and Dad found ways to entertain themselves.

They ran around the family room/kitchen over and over again with Skylar leading the way and telling Dada when to go and when to wait for her.

Shouting "Dada, Dada this way, this way".

You can tell by the 20th trip around Jake's back was starting to ache.

Next she had us push her up and down the kitchen.

She was not a happy camper when we told her it was time to stop.

Day 2 the rain stopped and we attempted to take a walk around the neighborhood just to get Skylar out for some fresh air but it didn't last long because it was very windy and super chilly, so when we got home the running around continued.  Jake was such a trooper and Skylar just had the best time playing all weekend with Dad.

Just a little Skylar update

Now that I have my new camera I have been trying to practice with it and take as many pictures as I can and poor Skylar is the one who has to deal with me.  I spent the whole weekend taking as many pictures of her as I could.  I can't believe our little girl is now 22 months old.  She has grown up so fast its seems just like yesterday we were celebrating her 3rd month birthday.

Right now she has become such a chatter box.  She is always chatting with us about something and copying anything we say.  She just loves being outside.  At daycare they tell us that when its time to come inside and nap or eat Skylar is always the last one in and puts up a big fit when she has to leave the backyard.  Her favorite TV shows right now are Special Agent Oso and Mickey Mouse Clubhouse. Jake and I say we sometimes find ourselves humming the songs from both shows during the day.  She went through her Elmo doll phase, and then her baby doll phase, but right now its all about trucks and trains.  She loves playing with us on the floor with her two match cars and her train.  Mom and Dad even have their own trucks and she always has to make sure that we have those when playing with her.  She even takes her train and cars to bed with for nap time and lines them up perfectly in her crib before she goes to sleep.  Swim class is Skylar's favorite activity right now.  We are so close to getting moved up to the advance class but she is just one second off on her back float.  I'm hoping this week she will get moved up.

She has always been a Mama's girl but recently she has been all about Dada.   She is constantly yelling "Dada, Dada, Dada" from her playroom wanting him to come play with her and at bed time she has been cuddling with him in bed.  We can't wait for her to become a big sister!  I think she is going to love having a little baby around.  Jake got her the book "I'm a Big Sister" and she loves reading it every night.

We feel like the luckiest parents in the world that we get to spend our days with our little girl.  The past 22 months with her have been the best and we can't wait to see what is to come from her after she turns 2.
