Our Little Fish

Recently, after close to 9 months, Skylar was moved up to the advanced swim class.  I must admit, during a short period of time when she was in the intermediate class I thought we were never going to get moved up.  All of the kids Skylar had been going to class with for months were getting moved up because they were conquering the 10 second back float, while Skylar just couldn't quite make the full 10 seconds.  Luckily not too long after her last friend got moved up, Skylar passed the test and was propelled to the advanced class.  I was so proud of her!!!  Skylar just loves her swim class.  Whenever we tell her its time for swim, she runs up to her room and starts throwing out all her swimsuits trying to decide which one she wants to wear to class.  The first few advanced classes were tough, but now she is just cruising along in class and making new strides every session.  Her favorite thing to do is to hang onto the wall and dunk her head into the water and come back up.  It's so nice having her not fear the water and I love seeing her just enjoy every second while she is in it.  Next step....one on one class!!

Skylar's 2 Year Photos

Having just done Madden's newborn photos and loving how they turned out I had to ask Stephanie if she would be willing to do Skylar's 2 year photos.  Once again, I was worried because Skylar hadn't done professional photos since her 1 year photos and now that she has her own little personality I wasn't too sure how she would be during the session.  Thank goodness, Skylar did just as good as her brother did the  week earlier.  She just loves the camera and did everything we asked her to do.  The jelly beans that Stephanie offered her may have had something to do with it, but either way, she was just precious during the whole shoot and Stephanie got some amazing shots.

Once again, Stephanie did a fantastic job and I couldn't of been happier with the way they pictures turned out.  When we were walking home I told Skylar, "You are such a little model Skylar" to which she replied "No, I'm a big girl Mama!"

Skylar's 2nd Birthday - Parts I-III

I can hardly believe that my little girl is now 2 years old.  Talk about time flying by.  We have done so much in her short life and she has just been such a trooper during all of it.  This year since we weren't sure when Madden was going to arrive I didn't want to plan a big birthday bash like we did last year for her, so we decided to just keep things simple with a few small birthday celebrations.

Skylar was very cute on her birthday she would keep saying "My Birthday, My Birthday" making sure that everyone knew who the birthday girl was.  On her actual birthday we decided to just give her a few small presents and a little cupcake.  It's so cute now that she is at the age to understand what presents are and watch her rip them open.

She got a pair of swim goggles, coloring books and a bunch of plastic foods for her kitchen and shopping cart.

Celebration #2 took place at my parents house on Mother's Day.  It was the perfect time for the rest of my family to meet Madden, celebrate Mother's Day, and have a small party for Skylar.  I decided to get some cute desserts and a smash cake for her.  We didn't want her to eat the entire cake so we made sure she shared it.  She got a few gifts like clothes and books, but her favorite was the bowling set she got from Great Grandpa.

Her 3rd and final celebration for her birthday took place last weekend.  Jake's parents drove down to meet Madden so we took that as another opportunity for a small party for Skylar by having my parents come down too and us all going out to dinner.  We walked up to our local restaurant Tommy V's and had a nice dinner on the patio.  Skylar had her new favorite.....pizza.  She had be asking for pizza for dinner all week long, so we finally let her have some.  The restaurant even gave her a bowl of ice cream with chocolate syrup on top.  Of course, it only took one spoonful of the ice cream for the chocolate syrup to end up on her shirt.

I had Jake run home and set up all of Skylar's presents so when she walked into the house she would be surprised.  She refused to leave the restaurant and wanted to keep eating her melted ice cream until I told her she had to go home and open up presents and she practically jumped out of her seat, so I kind of ruined the surprise.

Skylar received a ton of great gifts from everyone.  Jake and I got her the Mustang, Grandma and Grandpa got her a waterpark, and Nana and Papa got her table and chairs and a art easel.  It may have lasted 3 weeks with 3 different celebrations but Skylar's 2nd Birthday was a success and I don't think she could of asked for anything more.  Much thanks to everyone who thought of her on her birthday and joined in on the celebrations.

Madden's Newborn Photos

I have to admit I was very excited to have newborn photos taken of Madden.  I didn't do them with Skylar, which to this day I still regret, so I was looking forward to seeing how our little man's turned out.  We have found the most amazing photographer who I hope I will get to use for all our future photo shoots.  Her name is Stephanie and I have actual known her for awhile.  She is Darci's sister-in-law and when I saw the great newborn photos she took of Logan I had to ask her if she would take Madden's.  Madden and I went over to Stephanie's house, which lucky for us, she lives in our neighborhood so we were able to just walk over.  Madden was about 6 days old when we took the pictures, which made me kind of nervous because he was such a crier I was worried he wouldn't cooperate.  Lucky for me, Stephanie was such a natural she knew just want to do to make him sleepy and comfortable.  I totally let Stephanie take free regin of the shoot as I knew I would love whatever she did.

My only request for Stephanie was that Madden wear the little aviator knit cap that I purchased for him.

(The one below is my favorite, how cute is that face)

Stephanie really want to do some naked ones, which I was worried about because I didn't want him to 1) wake up and 2) poop all over Stephanie's props, but Stephanie insisted, which I'm glad she did because they turned out so cute.  And, lucky for us, he didn't even poop.

I was so pleased with how his photos turned out and what an amazing job Stephanie did, I couldn't ask for anything more.
