Madden's Two Months Stats

I'm glad to say I think we made it through the woods and are in the clear with our little guy.  I must admit those first 6 weeks with him were not very easy but now that he is a bit older and bigger he is honestly a very happy little boy.  He of course still cries, but now its really only when he is tired not the whole day like it was those first few weeks.  His baby acne has cleared up and he is just cute beyond words (he was still cute with the acne, but you know what I mean).  His little smile just melts my heart!

He continues to be in the 90th percentile for height and weight coming in at a solid 13 1/2 pounds and 24 inches long.

Here is both Skylar and Madden right at 2 months of age.

More Fun with CJ

Summer is here and Skylar and CJ are definitely ready for it.  They couldn't get enough of each other over the weekend.  First we went over to CJ's house and had a early birthday celebration for her as her birthday is in a week and she will be in Maui for it.  They were both covered in water after playing together for only 2 minutes, as you can see Skylar is shirtless and CJ had to put her pajamas on all before dinner was served.  Either of them really ate much for dinner but of course decided to finish 2 cupcakes each.  When it was time to leave to no ones surprise Skylar had a breakdown and cried the whole way home.  She just hates having to leave her best friend.

The next day Jake blew up Skylar's pool and the girls had a blast flying into the pool from the slide.  I think they each went down for an hour straight, taking turns and sometimes plowing into each other, while loving every minute of it.  It wasn't until they both were getting goosebumps that we had to bring them into the house.  Then later that evening after dinner CJ stop by again and the girls ran around for about 30 minutes until it was Skylar's bath time.  Watching these two together always puts such a smile on my face!!

Dianne's Bridal Shower

This past weekend we got to shower Dianne with love at her bridal shower.  We couldn't of asked for a more beautiful day as the sun was shining and the temperature was just perfect.  Jackie has wanted to host Dianne's bridal shower since they were young and she definitely was the right person to do it.  She put in so much work for the shower and it really turned out so Dianne.  From the burlap, to the simple white flowers, to the hint of aqua, it all looked so pretty.

All of us with the bride to be.

Jackie and her Mom put together all the food and I picked up a bunch of desserts.  Skylar really enjoyed her cupcake.

It was so nice being able to meeting all of Jake's family who we have heard so many wonderful things about.  Jake's Mom was so sweet and fun.  Dianne is very lucky to have such a great mother-in-law who just loves her to pieces.  It had been so long since I had last seen Dianne and Jackie's moms so it was also really nice to catch up with them and have them finally meet Skylar.  The shower couldn't of turned out any better with all the great company and conversation.  Jackie deserves the biggest praise as she totally out did herself putting the whole thing together.  This is just the beginning of the summer of Dianne as we have the bachelorette next month and then August for the wedding and I couldn't be more excited for it all.

Father's Day - 2012

This year for Father's Day I knew exactly what to get Jake.  Since Madden was born he hasn't had the chance to play golf and I knew he was dying to play so the kids and I decided to get him a round of golf at the Crossing Golf Course in Carlsbad for him and a friend.  When I booked the round I just made sure that it was for later in the morning so we could at least all have breakfast together and celebrate the day.  That morning we had blueberry waffles and Skylar and Jake played all around the house before it was time for Dad to make his tee time.  Sadly, Madden was sleeping most the morning so he missed out on the waffles, but did wake up in time to spend some time with his Dad before he left for the day.

I have to say I feel like one lucky Mom knowing what an amazing and special Dad my two kids get to have in their life.   Thanks for being the best Father in the world Jake, we love you with all of our hearts.

Best Friends

Skylar got pretty lucky when we moved into our new house because just one house down she found her best friend, CJ!! The two of them are like two peas in a pod.  They loves playing together and especially with each others toys.  Skylar has a breakdown 95% of the time when we have to leave CJ's house or when CJ has to leave our house.  CJ on the other hand is a little bit more mild tempered and doesn't get as upset as Skylar does when their play dates end.  For Skylar, we sometimes can't even walk pass CJ's house without Skylar running up to the front door.  When Skylar got her new car for her birthday she kept saying how CJ is the only one who gets to sit in the passenger seat.  If you asked Skylar who her best friend is she will say "CJ Mama, CJ."  We have already signed up the girls to go to pre-school together next fall, which will be nice for them to have each other in class.  I can't wait to watch these two grow up together.  Before I know it they are going to be driving each other in real cars.

1 Month Down

So I'm glad to say that we survived our first month with two kids.  It hasn't been easy by far and I will admit I have had a couple breakdowns, but we are taking everything day by day.  Madden and Skylar were definitely different personalities as infants.  Madden is extremely needy, cries a lot and just constantly wants to be held, while Skylar didn't cry as much and didn't need the constant touch of someone.  He isn't a fan of the infant swing at all, which was something that Skylar lived in.  He loves to sleep on his tummy, it's practically the only way he does sleep, while Skylar would pass out on her back no problem.

They do have some similarities as they are/were great nursing babies.  Madden is a tank! At his 1 month appointment he weighed in at 11 pounds 23 inches.  I already have him wearing some 3 month outfits.  My little man just loves to eat.  Skylar was a really good night sleeper and so is Madden, he is getting up an average of two times a night and usually goes right back to sleep after he feeds.

He is usually the happiest when lying on your chest.  Jake and I are pretty amazed on how well he is already lifting his head.  I'm still trying to figure out if he hates the stroller.  I have had a couple good experiences with him in it, but lately at Stroller Strides he has turned into a terror and screams his head off the whole time.

Skylar loves being a big sister.  The first day we brought Madden home from the hospital she was a little unruly, which was to be expect, but since then it's nothing but love for Madden.  She is always asking where Madden is when she first wakes up.  She now wants to get her diaper changed all the time because she see's us changing Madden's diaper.  When he is screaming crying (which happens a lot) she will try to help "sssshhhh" him to sleep.  She has become Mom's little helper and will throw his diapers away or grab me his blanket when I need it.  When he is napping she always wants us to wake him up so he can play with her.  It has been really amazing watching her take on the big sister role, and trust me she lets you know as he likes to say "I'm a big sister!"

It has been an adjustment and we have our good days and bad, but we couldn't be happier with our family of 4 (and its for sure going to stay 4).  I know in a few months all the hard days we have had will long be forgotten and it's going to get easier.
