Dance Recital 2022

Well after two covid years of dance, nothing was better than being back in the beautiful auditorium and on the real stage for our dancers.  They have struggled with zoom classes in our garage, classes outside on the concrete, having to wear masks while in class and they have got through it all with a smile on their faces.  We couldn't be more proud of them and we're so excited to see them shine this year.

I love nothing more that for the past four years they have been in hip-hop together.  It's so much fun seeing them do something like this together and to support each other.

This years Father/Daughter dance may have been the best one yet.  Skylar and Jake had a blast! We were lucky enough to see them dance it several times over the week as they were in both shows on both days.  They even got to close out the whole show which was awesome.

Mabel and Skylar in their Jazz number.

Our little ballerina.

The kids had a great cheering squad this year as with Grandma, Nana and even Aunt Sherry was able to be apart of the weekend.

Madden also received his 5 year award.  Its still hard to believe he has been doing hip-hop for 5 years now.  He is iffy on if he is going to do it again, but I know I'm really keeping my fingers crossed that he will give it at least one more go.

Our little tapper!

These two have been in the same classes together for almost 8/9 years.  They have such a good time together and we couldn't as for a better dance bestie than Mabel.

Our dance life has gotten a bit more interesting as this year Skylar decided to try out for her studio's competition team.  We were so excited for her to challenge herself in a different way when it comes to dance and we can't wait to see what next year brings her when it come to her dancing.

FNL - Arkon Zips (Spring 2022)

This Fall was our second season with Jake has head coach and after making it to the Championship game last season we had our eyes set on a repeat.  We once again played in the toughest conference of the league during the regular season.  We headed with a 4-4 record which was nothing to be ashamed about especially after adding 3 new players.  Once playoffs hit we were rolling.  Winning our first 4 games and putting us into the final four.  We just had to win our first game and we were back into the finals to play for the trophy.  Sadly that first game didn't go as planned and we got our butts kicked.  Our boys just didn't play there best and when that happens you just aren't going to win and that is what happened.  After a great season and an even better early playoff run we ended up not getting to play in the finals which left the boys pretty bummed out.  Either way, nothing is better that FNL on Fridays and we had a great season and Madden just continues to improve and so does Jake.  We are all looking forward to moving up to the 5th-6th level and see how we do.

Madden's 4th Trip to San Fran/Sacramento

4th grade is all about California history so going on the 4th grade trip was something we weren't going to miss.  We had Skylar signed up to go on it when she was in 4th grade but Covid shut that down, so I was happy that Madden was able to attend.  We knew it was going to be a fun filled packed two days and that is definitely what it was.  We had to be at the airport at 6:00 AM on Saturday and from there it didn't stop until we got home on Sunday night.

These boys crashed the cockpit.

Waiting for our cable car.

Riding the cable car was maybe my favorite part of San Francisco.

We got dropped off at Pier 39 for the next 5 hours.  It was a mad house there but it didn't slow us down.  Boys were jumping and running all over that place.

We had lunch at Hard Rock Cafe.

After lunch we toured the aquarium.  At one point I lost Madden inside, but eventually found him.

Hopped on the ferry to visit Alcatraz.  Madden was the one kid who decided to go in the splash zone that you weren't suppose to go in and he was drenched.

At Alcatraz after Madden got soaking wet, he was in a bit of a mood so he just wanted to tour it with me which was so nice.  He was usually so busy with his buddies having just him and I tour it was fun to do together.

After the tour we headed back for dinner at Pier 39 and back on the bus to head to our hotel.  The kids took over the pool at the hotel and had a blast swimming before they all crashed by 10:00 PM.

The next morning we headed over to the State Capital where we walked around the grounds.  It was a Sunday so it was closed and we all found it a bit of a waste of time to be there to be honest.

Got to walk around Sutters Fort where we did a bit of a scavenger hunt and ate lunch.

The weather was getting warm and we drove down to the American River where the kids got to pan for gold.  The water was freezing they all day but it didn't stop them for looking for a nugget.

We ate dinner in Old Sacramento, headed to the airport and finally got home by 11:00pm that night.  In the end we packed in a TON of stuff in just 36 hours and it was a blast! I was so glad that Madden and I attended this trip as I know it is something he will remember forever.
