June 2019

Madden's class got to go on a field trip to the Safari Park.

Joey, Evan, Madden and Justin

Science Day.  Here is Skylar picking through owl pellets aka owl puke.  She came home with a bag of bones.

Madden's class had a minute to win it party for their end of the year party.

Yes the sun did come out for a hot minute and you know where we headed.  It had been 8 months since we had last seen the Madden's so it was so great to visit with them at our favorite place.

Madden had basketball camp which he had a blast at.

We rented a boat and had a nice evening on Lake San Marcos with the Rossittos.

Captain Madden.

Pretty sure this is the first of many sleep overs for these girls this summer.

Right when school got out, we pretty much hopped on a plane and headed up north to visit the family up north.  We had a trip planned a few months prior, but had to cancel so we were extra excited to finally visit with everyone.  The best part about getting together is that is even though it had been around nine months since the last time the cousins saw each other, the minute they are together its like they never skipped a beat.

These four were laughing and running around immediately.

We had dinner at the good ole Rice Bowl on the first night.  We all were laughing endless about the amount of food we all ordered.  Could of feed us all for the whole weekend.

Another great part about the visit was being in warm weather.  It has been nothing but doom and gloom down here so being able to sit outside in shorts and eat ice cream at like 8:00 PM was the best.

Madden attempting to show some love to Skylar but she just wasn't having it.  That morning Piper put on a lovely brunch for the whole crew at her home.

For our visit we rented a cute little house which was five minutes from everyone, which really was great.

The cousins hanging out in Grandmas new place.  We played a full round of Charades and Family Feud.

After brunch we headed to what I would say was my favorite part of the trip....the Roller Skating Rink.   OMG, it had been years since I had been to a rink that I was in complete heaven.  Grandma had a front row seat for watching the whole family skate around.  This was Skylar and Madden's first time on skates and I must say I was surprised that Madden was the one who loved it.  Poor Skylar only made it around half the rink and during that time she took two major falls and was done.  Next day her little booty was black and purple with bruises.  Madden was a stud! I was so proud of him.  He would fall but always got right back up and by the end of our time there he would just go off on his own.  Jake was even really impressive since it has been like 20 years since he was last on skates.  When all was said and done, Brian and I probably take the cake for being the best skaters in the family.  It was such a great outing for the family, and I can't wait to go back and do it again.

That evening we headed over to Jessee's for a BBQ.  The adults got some nice time together and the kids had an epic water balloon fight in the trampoline.

We have been through one heck of a year, but I feel so blessed that when we come together we are able to smile, laugh, be joyful and continue to make lifetime memories.

Last Day of School 2018-2019

Another great school year has come to an end for Skylar and Madden.  Madden had a great 1st grade year.  He was a fantastic student when it came to both academics and behavior.  His main struggle that Mrs. Burns told us was that he just needed to slow everything down.  He always wanted to be the first one done with his school work and would make really silly mistakes that if he just slowed it all down those mistakes wouldn't happen.  Luckily by the second half of the school year he seems to get and it didn't seem to be much of a problem.  He loved going to school everyday.  When I would drop him off he was always running into the school.  He played football and soccer just about every day at recess.  Always bringing his football to play with all his friends.  He was definitely Mr. Popular in his class room.  Early on in the school year he was given the nickname Mayor Madden by all his classmates and Mrs. Burns presented him with Future President award at the end of the school year.

I feel so blessed that I never have to worry about Skylar when it comes to being a great student.  She is always at the top of her class when it comes to all subjects and her behavior is always top notch.  3rd Grade definitely test their ability and she passed with flying colors.  They even started state testing this year and she scored well above the standard. She may not be running into school each day like Madden, but she never complains about having to go.  I know she enjoys learning and being apart of the classroom.  She really bonded this year with a group of girls who she spent most of her time with.  We were proud of her for branching out and trying new things like science fair.  I can't believe she only has two more years of elementary school and then she is off to middle.  Going to try and cherish these few years we have left.

Skylar and her classmates.

Madden with his 1st grade buddies.

These girls were thick as thieves this school year.

Ended the school year with a massive pool party at the Bressi pool.

What a difference a school year makes.

Monthly Awards

Skylar and Madden were ending the school year on a big high.  They both received awards for the last month of the school year.  Skylar's award was even more special because the award winners in her class were voted on by her classmates.  The classmates voted Skylar as the AVID award winner for the month of May.  That made Skylar a 3 time award winner for her 3rd grade year.

Madden received his second award of the year by earning the Reading Counts award.  I was really happy to see him win this one because he definitely has step up his reading the last few months of school.
