April 2020

We are now at the end of April which puts us at 7 weeks of Covid-19 quarantine.  Kids are definitely not going back to school and pretty much anyone and everyone you talk to say how much they are over all of this.  We are all hoping that May is the month we start seeing some light at the end of this horrible tunnel.  They did recently just open our beaches and trails, but only for walking on, no stopping and relaxing, you have to keep moving, at least its a start.

April started off with the worst spring break in history.  On top of dealing with Covid, it poured rain the entire week of spring break, and when I mean poured, it dumped for 5-6 straight days.  Lots of video games and TV time.

The families got on zoom and sang Happy Birthday to Matthew.

Easter was nothing to brag about either.  I probably could of done a better job and made it more exciting but I guess I just didn't have the energy and the gloomy weather didn't help.  The easter bunny left a map for the kids to search for their baskets.  Jake and I put on a egg hunt for the kids which took them over 30 minutes to find all the eggs, that had fun with it.

We finished our first 1000 piece puzzle.

Art class.

We took a bike ride on the La Costa Golf Course which was fun, but they ended up closing the course down a few days later.  We were late to the golf course game.  They did recently open up golf courses again for single players (another good sign).

Taught the kids beer aka water pong.

#quarantielife

Early on in this quarantine we broke the rules with the Rossitto family.  Everyday at 1:30 Jess and I take the kids to empty parking lots and let them ride and play.  Its pretty much the highlight of the kids day...playing in an empty parking lot #covidfun.

Emma's Birthday Parade and Party

The girls trying their best to social distance.

Parking lot bikes and beers.

Doing our best to keep cool when there is no beach or pools to go too.

Saturday night movies on the lawn.  Mike and Eric have been setting up the projector for us all to watch movies once the sun goes down.

Mask up!!  We are now all required to wear mask whenever you can't at least be 6 feet apart from people (grocery stores, etc.).

Madden's 8th Birthday

8 years old...crazy to  even type that Madden is 8.  Time is just flying by, even during Covid.  We hadn't had any birthday party plan in motion by the time Covid hit, so Madden wasn't hugely disappointed to have to spend his Birthday Covid style.  We did our best to make it the best day we could for him under the circumstances.  His main thing was that he didn't want to do any school work on his birthday so he made sure to finish all his work the day before so it could be a school free day.

Jake and I decorated the whole living room to celebrate our boy.

I got up early that morning to make sure I could get to the donut shop and back home before Madden woke up, but nope...Madden was up at 5:40 AM and the donut shop opened at 6:00 AM, so no donut surprise.

Madden made a plan to open up one gift every hour.

His first gift was the one Skylar picked out for him.  A WWE gift of course.

Sophie, Jess and Eric decorated the whole front of the house to surprise the birthday boy.  He was happy with it.

More gift opening.

So the big thing with Covid birthdays are parades.  Madden had a HUGE turn out with about 20 cars of all his friends and some family.  Madden was shocked by the number of friends who came by, he even said "Mom I didn't know that many people would come."  The parade was so heartwarming, I was actually tearing up seeing all our friends again.  Madden said the biggest surprise was seeing Nana in the parade.

More gift opening.

His next big surprise was Lennon and Morrison coming down and surprising him.  He misses his cousins a lot so it was great being able to see them even if it was from a social distance.

Sushi dinner was the birthday boys request that night.

We got both sides of the family on zoom to sing Happy Birthday to Madden.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough ice cream cake was the dessert of choice.

In the end it was a bummer to not have a fun party with all his friends and family, but he never once complained.  He was happy as a clam and I promise a big redo party for the 9th for sure.
