March 2019

Spring FNL is in full effect!  Madden is on the Fresno State Bulldogs with a bunch of his buddies.

We celebrated my 38th Birthday up in Mammoth.

No Pain No Gain!  Madden lost his 9th tooth.

Silly Leprechaun got away again this year.

St. Pattys Day BBQ at the Kurisu's place

Crazy boys. Almost got us kicked out of Nortes.

A girls night out with some of my favorite people.

Science Fair

This year we convinced Skylar to participate in the Science Fair.  I knew if she was going to do it, we needed to have the project focus on something she loves.  CANDY was the answer!  We came up with the idea on finding out what liquid dissolves Skittles that fastest.  She and Jake picked out all the liquids and set up the experiment one day in our garage.  Skylar's hypothesis was that vinegar would dissolve the skittles the fastest.  The results came in and water was actually the winner.  Jake and Skylar couldn't believe it that they did the experiment for a second time and again, water came out on top.

The next weekend we spent hours putting together Skylar's display board.

The evening of the science fair Skylar did great explaining her experiment to all the people viewing it.

The next morning at school all the winners of the science fair were announced.  I could tell that Skylar was A) really shocked when they call her name and B) really proud of herself.  She placed 3rd against all other 3rd graders.

We couldn't of been more proud of our little scientist.

Dance Viewing Week 2019

I had another great afternoon watching the kids at dance class.  For spring viewing week we get a sneak peek at their recital routine which makes this one even better.  Skylar did great in tap and jazz.  She really seems to be improving in both.  Ballet is hard for her as its comes at the last hour of the three hour block of dance, but she did great.  My favorite one to watch is always hip-hop.  The kids have improved so much since my last view and their recital routine is on point.  I'm really looking forward to seeing them both on the big stage together!

Mammoth 2019

Man, with the winter we have been having we were all looking forward to getting up to Mammoth and hitting the slopes.  They had a record setting amount of snow for the month of February, with more to come.  Every year we go we get so lucky with it dumping and when we arrive that first week of March, it's sunny, warm and fresh powder.  This year was a bit different.  Our first day was full of sun, but by the second day a storm blew in and it dumped, and it dumped for two days straight.

Day one we hit the slopes pretty much all day.  Skylar did great!  She seemed a bit more intimidated this year than the previous two, but she still did great.  There was a couple rough falls with tears for her, but she got right back up and wanted to keep going.

This year we decided not to push Madden into skiing.  We told him it was his choice, so when we got into Mammoth we first went to the rental shop and Madden decided then that he didn't want to ski at all, so we left it that.  Jake and I figure that in due time, maybe when he gets a bit older he will want to try it out, its just not for him at this time.

We skied pretty much up until the mountain closed that day.

That night we headed out to dinner to celebrate my birthday!  Always nice spending it with family.

This year we stayed at a new rental condo that had a massive downstairs game room.  Needless to say, Madden was in heaven.  He actually got really good at shuffle board, asking Jake to play endless games with him.

The next day we suited up for the storm.

The snow came down the whole morning and after a couple hours Skylar and I were freezing so we called it early that day.  I was still really proud of Skylar of wanting to still hit the mountain, even with the rough weather conditions.

We attempt to hit the tub park that afternoon, but it was closed!  Kids didn't care as they just loved playing in the snow.

They played in it for what seemed like hours.

Madden took the crown as monopoly champion.

Day three was even colder!  The wind was up and a lot of the higher lifts were shut down.  We stayed at the lower level to keep warmer, but Skylar and I barely lasted an hour.  It was so windy and snowy that we decided to head into the lodge and have some hot cocoa.  Again, I really admired that Skylar wanted to ski with it being so windy and cold.

When we got back Skylar and Madden just wanted to roll around in snow outside the condo.  They played and built a snow fort with Jake.  It was so fun seeing them having so much fun in all that fresh powder.

Weather wasn't quite on our side this trip as we would of loved to ski all day for the three days, but it still was so much fun and so beautiful seeing the whole town covered in white.
