It has be a very busy dance year for us. Skylar continued her jazz, tap, and ballet classes during the week. So with us being at the studio as much as we are I was able to convince Madden to try a hip hop class. Getting him to try the class took a trip to Target to buy a new nerf gun, but it was worth it. I have been begging for Skylar to try hip hop and she has refused, so I was willing to do anything to get Madden to try. After his first class I asked the teacher if he liked it, because I knew he wouldn't give me much feedback, and she told me he had a smile on his face the whole time. I finally got my little hip hopper. So when recital time came around it was extra special being able to see Madden up there for the first time.
I couldn't of been more proud of Skylar. She really dedicated herself to her dance this year by spending every Saturday at the studio. She had to miss out on friends parties and time with the family to show her commitment to her dance.
Skylar was participating in four different routines this year for recital, so she was a busy girl. For Ballet she performed in Rain.
Madden's hip hop routine was called Ridin Solo. He was a star up there. He was right up in front, smiling, and loving every single minute while on stage. I cried when I saw him up there for the first time, just like at Skylar's dance recital. He really loves hip hop and said that he is probably going to dance until he gets his 15 year dance award.
Skylar & Stella
Sofia, Sophia, and Skylar. Theses girls carpool every week together to and from the studio.
We can't forget out third dancer of the show...Jake!! He was a rock start his year. It was a really hard routine for the Dads this year but Jake knocked it out of the park. He and Skylar practiced at home all the time and it really showed on stage. Someone even came up to Jake and asked him how long had he be teaching at the dance studio.....haha! I was so proud of that moment.

Burnin Up was the theme for Father/Daughter.
Backstage selfies with Reese.
I couldn't of been more proud of these two. I love seeing them do something together that they both love.
One proud Mama.
Always there to support our little dancers are the grandparents. Wouldn't be a dance recital without them there.
In the wing right before going on stange.
I'm sure I say this every year, but this was truly Skylar's best dance year. She has really improved so much and seeing her on stage and the joy and excitement it brings her is always so heart-warming. She even told me that she wants to try hip-hop this year, which makes me so happy.
8 years old!! How did we get here and how did it go by so fast?!?! After our big Disneyland birthday bash we kept it really mellow on Skylar's actual birthday. She woke up and had her traditional birthday donut for breakfast.
I let her open one gift before she headed off to school that morning.
Skylar is one of the hardest people to buy gifts for. She doesn't have any type of toy or craft obsession so picking out presents is never easy. This year I mentioned about getting a desk put in her room and she loved the idea so that is what we did. We had a beautiful, custom desk made and all her gifts pretty much went with her new desk and she couldn't of been happier.
She got a very special surprise when Sophie came to her school and surprised her with balloons and her present at pick up.
Her dinner request was In & Out, just like her brother.
And she asked for a homemade cookies and cream cake to top off the celebration.
After the kids birthdays last year I promised myself next year no birthday parties, we are doing something just as a family. It had been about three years since we had our last Disneyland appearance so I figured there would be no better place to celebrate the kids birthdays than at the Happiest Place on Earth. Skylar was totally happy with the idea, but Madden on the other hand was saying that he didn't want to go to Disneyland and that he was having a party up until a week before we were going to the park. Luckily for us Madden got it through his head that he wasn't having a party and made the trip up to Disney with us...haha!
Since all three cousins birthdays are within two weeks of each others we made it a three way celebration for them. We got rooms at the Disneyland hotel to make the trip more magical and convenient for everyone.
While staying at hotel we got "magic hour," which allowed us to get into the park an hour earlier than it opens. We hit up two of the most popular rides the park had to offer.
Here is us on Cars. Turned out to be the kids favorite ride of the trip.
Guardians of the Galaxy is the newest ride at the park and it was one of those rides if I told the kids what was going to happen on it they wouldn't go on it, so I just told them nothing and we walked on. They ended up not hating it, saying they would go on it again, but probably not this trip. I was proud of them because as you can see I was freaked out on it.
Casey Jr. train ride, which Skylar said was her least favorite ride of the trip.
Riding Lennon's favorite ride, the Tea Cups.
Running around in Toon-Town.
We took an hour or so break and headed back to the hotel to rest up so the kids could make it for the parade and fireworks show. When we got back into the park we rode a couple more rides before our dinner reservation.
On Lugi's, another one of Lennon's favorites.
Snow White meets Snow White. Morrison was completely perfect the entire two day is the park. She went on a handful of rides and the only time she cried was while on Buzz Lightyear. She was such a little trooper.
Special birthday cake for the three birthday kids.
We loved Cars so much we rode it again at night, which was even better than the first time around.
The next morning we have breakfast reservation at Goofy's Kitchen. Kids got to see a bunch of characters and even had a cupcake to celebrate them all before 9:00AM.
The first day we tried to get on Splash Mountain but it was closed, so for our last day I had to make it a priority to ride it before we left. Skylar for some reason worked herself up too much because when we were walking over there she starting freaking out and refusing to ride it. Which was surprising because the day before she was all game and Madden refused to go on. I was able to calm her down a bit and we got her on the ride, but that didn't last very long. Right after the first downhill she completely lost it and starting freaking out, crying, and begging to get off the ride. In the end she survived be we did have to dry her socks and shoes out. Madden even said that it ended up being one of his favorite rides.
Probably shouldn't of put her in the front...haha!
Big Thunder Mountain.
Autopia.
Honestly when I think about our time up in Disney all I can do is smile. The kids were so much fun to be with there. They went on all the rides, never once complained, and were just so happy to be there, which really made be so glad we did a family trip instead of birthday parties this year.
Here is a video of all the highlights of our trip.
