Random Holiday Fun

This holiday season has been such a busy one.  On average we/I have had at least one holiday party and one cookie or ornament party each week and we still have another week until Christmas.  I really can't complaint that much because it has been a ton of fun.  I wanted to post a couple of pictures of things we have been doing all month.

Knowing how busy our weekends were we decided to get our tree early in the month.  We ended up getting a tree with the biggest trunk ever and Jake ended up at Lowes buying a new tree stand and having to pull out his saws to make it fit.  Skylar couldn't of been more excited to decorate this year.  She of course put her baby ornaments front and center, but did a good job distributing all the other ornaments around the whole tree. I was dreading dealing with Madden and the tree ornaments but to my surprise he has been really good and only broke one ornament so far.

Other community hosted a meet and greet with Santa and Ms. Claus.

Then the next day the neighborhood shopping center put on a holiday event as well.  Each store had different activities for kids to do and also had Santa and Ms. Claus.  There was cookie decorating at Luna Grill, spin the wheel to win a prize at Rubios, glitter hair pray at Blo, clay ornament making at the local baby boutique, and a ton more.  Sadly for us, it was raining so it was hard to do them all but we at least were able to see Santa.  Skylar was a bit confused on why Santa and Ms. Claus looked different from the night before.

Taking fun pictures with Dad!

Jake has a small obsession with Ugly Christmas Sweaters.

A fun family night at the Encinitas Botanical Gardens.

Skylar loved the snow.  She rode on the sled at least 10 times.  Madden on the other hand wanted nothing to do with the snow...he didn't even want to walk near it.

Last night our neighborhood had such a special treat when the Carlsbad Fire Dept. did a mini parade up and down the streets.  There was Santa, music and candy canes for all.  It was really fun and as you can imagine the kids were in heaven.

Tiny Dancer

This week was a special week for me.  Since I work part time I'm not able to see Skylar participate in dance or gymnastics, which breaks my heart.  At her dance studio on the first Monday of every month the parents are allowed into the studio to watch the girls.  Toni would send me pictures and videos from those days and it was so nice to see how much Skylar enjoyed class.  I finally built up enough PTO at work and decided to take the morning off to go watch her.

During dance class they do Tap and Ballet.  Ms. Jenny, their instructor is so sweet and patient with the girls.

They play little games in class in between the learning parts.

Ms. Jenny teaches the girls all the technical words for each dance move, but then also gives it a name that they will know...i.e. making ice cream cones.

The girls recital isn't until June, but I feel like I'm already counting down the days.

Baby Pino

We couldn't be more excited for my brother and Erin who are expecting their first baby.  Baby P is set to arrived on June 7th, 2014!

Annual Bressi Ranch Turkey Trot

Ready, Set, Go!!  Yes the Annual Bressi Ranch Turkey Trot was in full effect this year.  I was really excited for it.  Being my competitive self, I was determined to that we be the first stroller to cross the finished line.  The girls were also very excited for their 200 yard dash.  Jess put together adorable Indian head dresses for the girls to wear during the race.

This is Skylar carbing up before her big race!

The family who puts this on every year put on a 200 yard dash for 5 and unders.  Then a 1 mile run for 6-10 year olds, and the 5K race for the rest.

Here is coach stretching all the kids out before the big 200 yard dash.

Take your marks! Get Set! GO!!!!!!

If you can't tell by the smiles on their faces, the girls had a blast.  They both game in first place in our hearts!

The girls had so much fun doing their race, that they even chased after all the older kids racing in their 1 mile run.

For the 5K, Sophie and Skylar wanted to be together so Jess took Madden on the 5K and Jake pushed the girls in our double stroller.  For the 5K race you have to run the neighborhood loop 4 times.  The girls were our little cheerleaders, cheering us on and anyone running near us.  Jake kicked butt pushing those two girls the whole time.  With them and the stroller its about 100 pounds.  Thanks to our cheer squad we were the first stroller to cross the finish line.  Another successful Turkey Trot under our belt.
