Guess who is 5

5....It really feels like a milestone when they turn that age.  On Sunday (Mother's Day) our sweet baby girl turned 5 years old.  I have so many mixed emotions because I don't want to see her grow up, but at the same time I can't wait to see what type of young lady she is going to become.

We told Skylar since it was her birthday she could do whatever she wants, wear whatever she wants (i.e. the random sombrero headband), and eat whatever she wanted that day.  For her birthday breakfast she requested a chocolate sprinkle doughnut that was big enough to share with Madden.

This girl really loves presents, but at the same time she hardly gave us clues on what she wanted.  We did get her the two gifts she had been requesting for awhile.  A lalaloopsy doll and a random talking bird.  She also received between myself and my parents a ton of new dresses and grandma and grandpa sent down a couple of games that she played all day with dad.

The sombero headband was the staple of her birthday entire.  Lucky for me she didn't ask to wear it to Mother's Day brunch, but once we were home she put it back on and matched it with her Spider-Girl tutu dress that Madden got her for her birthday.  For her birthday dinner she asked for pesto chicken, with rice, and the most important side dish, mac and cheese.

She topped off her birthday requests with an ice cream sundae bar. To which she took full advantage of by putting as many gummy bears, rainbow sprinkles and M&Ms on top of her ice cream as possible.

Skylar,
You are the daughter that every mother and father dream of having.
We are the luckiest parents in the world to call you ours.
Wishing you a Happy 5th Birthday!

Mother's Day 2015

My Mother's Day started off earlier in the week in Skylar's classroom when we were invited to Moms & Muffins.  Skylar and I ate blueberries muffins, that I had to picked out all the blueberries out of for Skylar to eat any and fresh fruit.  The kids sang all us Moms an adorable song and then we got to see the kids hang out for a bit and get a small glimpse on what their preschool days are like.

Madeline, Skylar, and Emma.

Skylar made me a wonderful card, a beautiful flower for my hair and a cute jewelry dish.

For Mother's Day my Mom and I got to do what we both really like to do.....go to brunch! Jake and Dad took us to Chandlers that is right across from the beach.  The weather we beautiful so we were able to sit outside and enjoy the view.  The food was fabulous and I ate more than I probably should, but isn't that what you are suppose to do at a buffet.  The kids were great which even made the morning more enjoyable.

Madden was there, but refused to join us for the family picture.

I'm one lucky Mama!

My wonderful Mom and I.

Nana, Papa, and Madden.
Skylar was in a mood and refused to join in on the picture and since it was birthday I let it slid.

Later that afternoon when I left to run an errand I received the sweetest message from my baby girl.

Having the Mother's Day weekend start off a bit rough with Madden and his ER visit, the weekend really ended on a great note.  It was a super fun Mother's Day, the kids got me just want I wanted, a swim parka, and we even got to celebrate Skylar turning 5!

Lennon's First Fiesta

Can't believe my sweet nephew is 1 years old.  We were extremely excited to drive up to Riverside and celebrate Lennon turning one with his family and friends.  Erin and Matthew did an amazing job on the party, and when I say "amazing" it really doesn't even begin to give them the credit they deserve.  It was truly the cutest fiesta I have ever seen and should be repinned over and over again on pinterest.

Myself and the Birthday Boy!

Taking whacks at the pinata.  This was a legit pinata down from Los Angeles that was filled with true Mexican candy.  The kids couldn't even bust it open so Matthew eventually had to put a hole in it.

The birthday boy enjoying his delicious cake.

Someone really loves her Auntie!

Being the amazing Auntie and Unc that they are, Erin and Matthew were sweet enough to order Skylar and Tricia their own cake to celebrate both of their birthdays that was the next day.

Congrats to Erin and Matthew for surviving their first year of parenthood and a big thanks for the fun party.  I know the Lennon will look back at it and appreciate all the hard work they put into it.  We all can't wait to see what the next year brings to you Lennon!

Hardwood Floors - 1 / Madden - 0

Skylar was 1  1/2 when she had her first ER visit, so Madden making it to age three for his first visit was somewhat of a accomplishment we felt.

This past weekend our sweet little Bubbas suffered a concussion.   He was attempting to pop a balloon by jumping on top of them.  He jumped and successfully popped the balloon, but of course, slipped and slammed the back of his head on the floor.  He was immediately inconsolable, screaming for ice (something that he NEVER wants when he is hurt), and wouldn't let go of Mom.  I continued to hold him for an hour until he asked to take a bath.  While in the bath he seemed more perky and I thought we were in the clear.  I asked him to get into my bed so I could read him a book. I turned away for one second and then the puking started.  After that we knew he most likely suffered a concussion and we had to take him to the hospital.  When I explained to him that his boo-boo was pretty bad and that he was going to have to go to the hospital he burst into tears begging us not to take him.  Seeing how scared and upset her brother was, Skylar started crying right along with him.   She was so worried about her brother that she just wanted to hold him.

After finally calming both Skylar and Madden down all four of us piled into the car and went to the ER.  Madden puked again in the car all over his favorite blanket.  Madden still extremely overwhelmed and not to mention exhausted because its 9:00 p.m. at night didn't want anyone or anything to touch him.  At admissions when they were doing the simple things like his temperature and weight put Madden into hysterics. In our hospital room Madden wouldn't even let myself or Jake (whomever was holding him) sit on the hospital bed.  He wanted nothing to do with being there.

Jake and I both knew that when it was time for his CT scan it wasn't going to be easy.   Madden was in such panic for the CT scan that nothing Jake and I did or said could calm him down.  The techs basically told us to get out and they would handle.  They ended up strapping him down while, Jake, Skylar and I stood outside the door and listened to Madden scream and cry his head off louder than I have ever heard in his short life.  He was shouting for "Mama" with such fear in his voice, that it bought me to tears.

The results from the CT scan came back pretty quickly and lucky for Madden it was all clear and we were all able to go home.  We got the kids to bed around 11:30 p.m. and we let Madden sleep with Mom and Dad after his trying night.

I don't have any pictures from the evening, but I still wanted to make sure I documented his first (and hopefully) only ER visit.

April 2015

We had a ladybug release party at the Rossittos.

We made a trip up to Irvine to spend time with the Stevens family.  Skylar and Linc were so cute together.  Can't believe these two are going to be turning 5 soon.

Grandma and Grandpa came down for a visit.  They kids have a blast when they are down.  Skylar is like Grandma's shadow the whole time they are here.  We took a lovely walk/scooter ride on the boardwalk.

At the end of our walk we ran into some Firemen who were kind enough to let the kids play in the truck.  Madden was to scared to climb in, but Skylar loved it.

Madden's 3rd Birthday

Having already thrown Madden's his party a week before his actually birthday, we still wanted to do something small to celebrate him.  He started off the morning with a chocolate sprinkle doughnut.  After we all sang Happy Birthday to him he immediately told us that he wanted to give half of his doughnut to his Sissy.

We kept all his presents from us and Skylar until his actual birthday so he would have something to open.

He once again ripped through everything but seemed pretty please with his Blaze movie and toys.

The Rossitto's joined us for dinner and dessert.  When we asked Madden what he wanted us to make him for his birthday dinner, to which he said Mac and Cheese.  So we had Mac and Cheese with salmon on the side.  For dessert I put together a little ice cream sundae bar for everyone.  Madden requested strawberry ice cream and strawberry topping.

It was the perfect evening celebrating our birthday boy.

The next day the kids and I did another all day Disney trip to continue celebrating Madden's birthday.  Mom and Uncle Chris enjoyed us as well.  It was Uncle Chris' first trip to Disney in like 15-20 years.  The birthday boy had a blast.  He went on all the rides he wanted to go on and he got to watch his favorite show, Mickey and the Magic Map.  His only disappointment of the day was when he wasn't allowed to ride Star Tours, but I got him a light up Buzz Lightyear toy to make up for missing out.  We ended our Disney trip on the train ride which is always Madden's favorite.

I'm pretty sure the Birthday Boy had no compliments about turning 3!

Madden's 3rd Birthday Party

This past weekend we threw Madden his 3rd Birthday Party.  Recently he has become obsessed with a new cartoon about monster trucks called Blaze.  Every morning..."Me watch Blaze Mama, Me watch Blaze?!?!?"  So when I asked him what kind of party he wanted, without hesitation "Monster Truck!" was his answer.

It's so cute because he is now at the age where he completely understood that this party was all about HIM.  I just loved seeing the smile on his face when he woke up from nap and saw the whole house decorated.  We decided to keep the party nice and small.  We invited just family and a couple of Madden little buddies from the neighborhood.

He was in awe of his monster truck cake.

The refuel station.

The bounce house was a huge hit with the kids.

Boys being boys!

My sweet birthday boy.

Madden was very excited to have his cousin "Baby Len" at his party.

Pinata time!

The girls cheering on the boys!

With a little help from Dad, Madden busted the pinata.

Cake time!  Madden was so excited to blow out his candles, he couldn't even wait for the end of the song.

I think his expression says it all!

Madden opens presents like he is the tasmanian devil.  Rips open every gift, takes a quick five second glimpse at it and goes onto the next.  I barely had enough time to collect the cards for each present.

Madden topped off the night with a small dance party.  He wanted to show Grandma, Grandpa, Papa, and Nana how he dances to his favorite song "Happy."

It was such a special day celebrating our sweet boy.
