Skylar's 9th Birthday

One more year and she is double digits, I can't even handle it.  I'm definitely going to cherish this last single digit year with my girl a little bit more.  Lucky for Skylar this year her birthday landed on a Friday and she got to celebrate at her brothers football game and end of the year party..."YEAH"!  We felt so bad because on the kids actual birthdays we always let them pick what or where they want to go to dinner/dessert and always talk about our favorite moments of them during that year and Skylar had to spend it at football with Madden and his teammates.  She was such a trooper and in the end I think she actually had a fun time.  We did give her a special breakfast and she opened up her presents.

Madden's football team singing "Happy Birthday" to her.

Don't get me wrong, just because Skylar wasn't truly able to celebrate on her actual birthday didn't mean we didn't celebrate.  The next day we threw a four way birthday bash for Skylar and her good friends.  These four girls birthday are all a week or so apart so we figured why not celebrate together.  I came up with the idea to throw an Out of this World Theme birthday party for the girls.  Us moms got a DJ and rented the Bressi Clubhouse for the event.

Birthday Beauty!

The girls (and 3 boys they invited) played games, danced and ate way to much sugar for 2+ hours.

We had about 30 or so kids attend the party.

Besties since they were 2 1/2.

Always eyeing the sugar.

I think it may have been the bash of the year, but I could be a bit bias.  The birthday girls were full of smiles the whole evening and the kids didn't slow down one bit.  We were basically kicking kids out when their parents arrived to pick them up because a lot of them didn't want to leave.  There was a lot of great feedback from parents letting us know how much fun their kids had.

Sunday we got to have a family dinner where we talk all about our favorite parts of 8 year old Skylar and she topped off the birthday weekend with a massive ice cream sundae.

  1. Oh sweetheart, now you are 9 years old. We are so proud of you. I didn't know what to expect of an "out of this world" party, but I wasn't disappointed. The dancing pictures were great! I could almost hear the music. What great friends you have, Skylar. You and your friends looked so happy. Moms, you all did a super job of sending the girls off towards the next year and what is ahead. "Happy Birthday" to Skylar and friends.
    Love, Grand-ma
